A Common Life
The Wedding Story

Jan Karon

This is book number six in the Mitford series, but it goes back in time to describe the events pertaining to the wedding of Father Tim and Cynthia. It is a sweet book, full of other Mitford people’s love stories, as they reflect on their pasts while preparing for the wedding. It includes Father Tim’s unromantic proposal, the reactions of the people of Mitford, the preparations, the wedding, and the beginning of the honeymoon.

Some parts were funny, but mostly it was sweet. It was not as good as the other Mitford books, but still nice to read. It took me three hours to read it (mostly in one shot). I understand a whole lot more of the Episcopal references than I did when I read the other books. They sang hymn 710 at their wedding—one of the ones we sang at ours! (Praise, My Soul, The King of Heaven) That was fun.
